Visit the Observatory

Observatory

The Observatory is not open to individuals. Only group visits are possible (min 10 people, max 25 people).

Every first Tuesday of the month (if it is not a holiday), those group visits are possible either in the morning or in the afternoon.
Only in exceptional cases, the day of the visit may be moved.

You can write your request addressed to the General Director of the Royal Observatory by email (rob_info@oma.be) or by post:

The General Director of the Royal Observatory
Av. Circulaire, 3
1180 Bruxelles

In this request, you can indicate:

  • the desired language of the visit (Dutch, French or English),
  • the desired day (e.g. first Tuesday of which month), time (from 10am to 12pm or from 2pm to 4pm) and
  • an ordinary guided tour or possibly additional specific wishes (e.g. a certain scientific domain, a more visit with more historical accent, …).

You will then receive an answer within about two weeks.

The group can have a maximum of 25 people. Exceptionally, and depending on the availability of the personnel, we can welcome a larger group of up to 50 people that will be split in two during some parts of the visit.

A typical tour will last approximately two hours. The program differs depending on staff availability.
