Data Policy
The user acknowledges that the presented data, including text, photographs, drawings, maps, video, illustrations, logos, slogans, research, are protected by intellectual property rights which belong to the Royal Observatory of Belgium (hereinafter “ROB”). The user acknowledges that the right of access to the Website does not result in total or partial transfer of intellectual property rights.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the data presented by the ROB may only be used under the following conditions.
Data presented by the ROB, may only be used for private, educational or scientific purposes.
On each copy and each publication must be clearly mentioned the source (URL of the web page) and the name of the project and/or researcher.
Commercial use of the presented data regardless in which form and by which means, is only possible after the express written prior consent of the Director general of the ROB. The request for this should be sent by email info@observatory.be or by post to Royal Observatory of Belgium, Dr. Ronald van der Linden, Director general, Avenue Circulaire 3, 1180 Brussels.
For data that are made available in the context of a specific scientific project, conditions may be different and/or more stringent.
Concerning GNSS
The mere resale of GNSS data or products provided by the ROB “as-is” is not allowed.
However, the commercialization of derivatives, is permitted under the following conditions:
- the derivative must have an obvious added value compared to the GNSS data and products provided by the ROB;
- the derived product must clearly indicate that it uses the GNSS data or products that are made available by the ROB, indicating the source (URL of the web page) and the name of the project and / or researcher.
